My son and His struggles with migraines
My son is 9 years old and has been suffering from sever headaches for a few years now. After going to the family Dr and eye Dr 2 times, we finally got him sent for a CT scan and MRI of the brain. The only thing that showed up on that was a sinus infection. I know that a sinus infection can cause headaches but I worry that these are more than just a "sinus" headache.
He is constantly missing school due to these pesky things, and I am getting fed up with it. He needs to be on some kind of medication for this problem.
I have noticed that when he has them he needs total darkness in his room, or the room he is in. He will cover his head with his pillow or blanket or whatever he has that he can use as a shield from any type of light. He also gets so nauseated from them that he needs to keep a "puke bucket" (as he calls it) close by. It really breaks my heart.
Online research shows all that we have done take him to eye Dr, have a ct and MRI done, go to his family Dr. Now i guess the last thing that we need to do is get him sent to a pediatric neurologist.
I also have great suspicion that he also suffers from Dyslexia. He has a very hard time reading and he often gets numbers and letters confused such as d&b, m&w, 6&9, sometimes he will write a 6 for s or vice versa. He has repeated the 2nd grade due to his problems. He was in speech therapy from pre-k to end of 1st grade. He struggles so much with math, and remembering facts of any kind, not just math. In fact we just done an online test to see if he needed to be evaluated for dyslexia and of course it said yes. I listened to him read words and he got so many of them backwards.
I plan on bringing this up to his Dr today at his appointment. I am fed up with all this mess and i will not have my child left behind!!!
